The latest issue of Women’s Health in Focus at NIH explores programs that supports the recruitment, retention, reentry, and sustained advancement of women in biomedical careers. The feature story focuses on NIH programs that support women in biomedical careers including continuity supplements and NIH Loan Repayment programs. A guest editorial by Xenia Tigno, Ph.D., ORWH Associate Director of Careers, discusses initiatives to improve gender and racial equity in NIH funding.
The “Scientist Spotlight” article features Arghavan Salles, M.D., Ph.D., Clinical Associate Professor of gastroenterology and hepatology at Stanford Medicine. Dr. Salles received an R01 grant, the only one of its kind at NIH, which supports research on interventions to mitigate or eliminate sexual harassment through cultural change in the biomedical research workplace.
Additional articles in this issue discuss limited access to breast cancer screening services in rural areas, health and research disparities for patients with disabilities, recent ORWH meetings and conferences, and many other topics.
