NIH recently released a funding opportunity announcement titled American Women: Assessing Risk Epidemiologically (AWARE) (R01 Clinical Trial Optional). This funding opportunity complements and expands research that combines epidemiological methods, digital technology, and data science approaches to better understand early HIV care cascade points and how to prevent HIV transmission for women living in the United States. The findings should lead to a better understanding of how women remain vulnerable to HIV but also inform future pilot interventions aimed at decreasing the incidence of HIV and other sexually transmitted infections among cisgender, transgender, and gender-nonconforming women.
