On Monday, March 29, 2021, join the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine for a virtual event regarding its consensus study report, Improving the Representation of Women and Underrepresented Minorities in Clinical Trials and Research. Clinical trials and clinical research often do not represent the demographic diversity of the populations that the novel drugs and interventions they are testing aim to serve. This workshop will review the challenges and barriers to having full representation and inclusion in clinical trials and clinical research with stakeholder groups that will provide oversight and funding for this work. It will also explore approaches and strategies for these stakeholder groups to address and overcome these challenges. The workshop’s panels and discussions will inform the ongoing work of the NASEM Committee on Improving the Representation of Women and Underrepresented Minorities in Clinical Trials and Research.
