On Tuesday, September 1, 2020, at 1:00 p.m. (Eastern Time), ORWH will host an hour-long webinar titled “Incorporating a Sex-and-Gender Lens from Bench to Bedside: Neurology,” featuring Farida Sohrabji, Ph.D., of Texas A&M College of Medicine. Dr. Sohrabji will discuss the urgency of considering sex and gender in neurological health, particularly as they pertain to ischemic stroke, Parkinson’s disease, and epilepsy. She will also share lessons learned from her career as an educator committed to including a sex and gender perspective in graduate and medical education. Her lecture will be followed by a moderated Q&A session.
This event also will introduce the neurology module of the “Bench to Bedside” course, developed by ORWH and the Food and Drug Administration Office of Women’s Health. This free online course gives users a thorough and up-to-date understanding of sex and gender influences on health and disease so this knowledge can be applied when conducting research and interpreting evidence for clinical practice.
