The next session of the “Diverse Voices: Intersectionality and the Health of Women” series will focus on COVID-19 and women and feature presentations from:

  • Heather Shattuck-Heidorn, Ph.D., Assistant Professor Women and Gender Studies, University of Southern Maine; Co-Founder and Assistant Director of the Harvard GenderSciLab
  • Stephaun Wallace, Ph.D., M.S., M.O.L., Director of External Relations, Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center

Dr. Shattuck-Heidorn will offer an account of intersectionality as live theory and practice in feminist science and technology studies and research. Her account is grounded in the experiences of the GenderSci Lab during its published analysis of racial and sex disparities in COVID-19 mortality.   Dr. Wallace will discuss the efforts and strategies involved to ensure diverse enrollment in COVID-19 vaccine trials conducted by the COVID-19 Prevention Network.

The event will be held July 28, 2022, from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. EDT. Registration is required. Click here for more information and a link to the registration page.

The 2022 season of Diverse Voices has explored cancer in women and environmental exposures and disparities in pregnancy outcomes. Recordings of all previous sessions are located on the newly designed U3 Interdisciplinary Research webpage.
