Female biomedical professor teaching students.NIH recently awarded $50,000 each to 10 institutions as part of a prize competition recognizing their biomedical and behavioral science departments for enhancing gender diversity and equity among their faculties. These institutions will be recognized on October 5 during an ORWH-hosted forum, “Effective Approaches to Fostering Faculty Gender Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion: Celebrating Progress.”

This forum—hosted in partnership with the American Association for the Advancement of Science’s (AAAS) STEMM Equity Achievement (SEA) Change initiative and in collaboration with the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine’s (NASEM) Committee on Women in Science, Engineering, and Medicine—will feature four panels with representatives from the winning institutions and the honorable mentions, plus current AAAS SEA Change participants, to discuss institutional strategies and practices that have substantially contributed to systemic change aimed at addressing gender diversity and equity issues among faculty members in academic biomedical and behavioral science departments.
