Funding Opportunity Announcements

ORWH coordinates several funding opportunities and participates in NIH-wide funding opportunities that seek to advance knowledge across the spectrum of women’s health and sex differences research.

Because ORWH is part of the Office of the NIH Director and is not an Institute or Center, it does not have grant-making authority. Therefore, all ORWH-funded and co-funded programs are administered through the NIH Institutes and Centers (ICs).  A partial listing of funding opportunities in women’s health research is at the bottom of this page.

ORWH coordinates the Advancing Novel Science in Women’s Health Research (ANSWHR) program and two program announcements for myalgic encephalomyelitis/chronic fatigue syndrome (ME-CFS).

Advancing Novel Science in Women’s Health Research (ANSWHR)

ORWH developed and implemented ANSWHR, an R-21 funding opportunity co-sponsored by 23 NIH Institutes and Centers.

ANSWHR invites extramural investigators to compete for grants in all areas of women’s health and sex differences research. Breast cancer, colon cancer, reproductive health, diabetes, obesity, human papillomavirus, cardiovascular disease, chronic pain, endocrine disorders, microbial exposures across the lifespan of women, mental health, and a range of neurosciences research projects are examples of the research covered in the ANSWHR awards.

Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (ME/CFS)

ORWH coordinates two program announcements focused on advancing research related to ME/CFS.

ORWH also chairs the Trans-NIH ME/CFS Research Working Group.

Last date updated: May 2011. Please see the NIH Guide [http://grants.nih.gov/grants/guide/index.html]
