Global Health Research Funding
ORWH participates in a number of global health initiatives with trans-NIH partners to improve the health of women, girls, and their communities. The Global Alliance for Clean Cookstoves is a new public-private partnership led by the United Nations Foundation to reduce health risks of elemental stoves used for indoor cooking or heating. These cookstoves produce toxic carbon emissions and the resulting indoor air pollution increases community risks for respiratory illnesses and lung cancer. Cookstoves are one of the top five health risks in developing countries.
