International Gender Summit 3 – North America (GS3-NA) Addresses Gender Issues in Research

ORWH, with the National Science Foundation, Natural Sciences and Engineering Research council of Canada, the National Council on Science and Technology of Mexico, the Canadian Institutes of Health Research, and Portia Ltd in the UK, convened the International Gender Summit 3 – North America (GS3-NA) in November 2013, in Washington, D.C.   • ORWH presented two Best Practices Training Workshops. “Integrating Gender Dimension into Medical Researcher Training,” chaired by ORWH Director, Janine A. Clayton, M.D., which included experts from Germany, Canada, Mexico and the U.S.

    “Fostering Interdisciplinary Careers,” chaired by ORWH Medical Officer Joan Nagel, M.D., M.P.H., featured NIH-funded investigators from ORWH’s Building Interdisciplinary Research Careers in Women’s Health (BIRCWH) program, and two experts in team science affiliated with the National Academies of Science.
