Lisa Begg, Dr.P.H., R.N.

Director, Research Programs

Lisa Begg, Dr.P.H., R.N., joined the Office of Research on Women’s Health in 2000. She has more than 30 years experience as a senior scientist, administrator and educator in government, academic, clinical, and research settings. Since joining the NIH in 1998, Dr. Begg has developed, implemented, and managed large, complex NIH extramural research programs. While working in academia, Dr. Begg served as the principal investigator of eight extramural research grants and contracts, as well as served as a scientific reviewer for a number of groups, including the NIH and the Department of Defense. She held faculty positions in schools of public health, medicine and nursing, and served on institutional review boards. Earlier in her career, Dr. Begg founded the Oncology Nursing Society, now the largest professional oncology society with 35,000 members worldwide.

Dr. Begg earned a Dr.P.H. degree in epidemiology from the University of Pittsburgh; her M.P.H. degree in epidemiology from UCLA; a M.S. degree in Nursing from UCSF; and a B.S.N. degree from Boston College.
